For me:
To hear a baby laugh.
To see old couples that still hold hands.
To find that toy I've wanted for years for my DSA toy projects, at an affordable decent price.
To see gamers not act like total assholes, to new players.
Today I went to work, I was in a totally foul mood. I hadn't slept well, and had bad dreams to boot. Just another crappy day at work. But one one child, probably around ten, came up to me and told me today was his birthday, and he wanted to spend his birthday money he was given on presents.
"Yeah, that's nice, so what ?" I was thinking to myself.
So I started to ring up his purchases, and noticed something odd.
These were not toys for children.
A scratching post, a few feather toys on strings, and pet treats. And I thought to myself. "This is odd". So I asked him why he was buying these items with his birthday money. "Aren't these supposed to be presents for you. ?"
And he looked up at me and told me that he has enough presents and toys, but his kitty was his best friend, and his kitty didn't have hardly any toys to play with. So all his birthday money was going to his best kitty friend, so he could have fun with him.
I swear to God, it took everything I had as an old soldier, not to tear up, to such an amazing act of kindness, from someone so young.
That totally made my night and changed my mood, and made me smile. And made me happy for the rest of the night. :D
It was a total D'aww moment. That this young boy, with all this money given to him, and he wanted to share it all with his kitty cat friend, with nothing at all for himself.
Faith in humanity restored. :)
