    Please pray for my Mom.

Please pray for my Mom. She fell and broke her hip this night, and we had her rushed to the hospital, and they in turn decided to have her rushed to Oak Ridge for emergency surgery.

"If we are marked to die, we are enough to do our country loss. And if to live, the fewer men, the greater share of honor...... We few, we happy few. We band of brothers. For he today that sheds his blood with me shall be my brother, be he ne'er so vile. This day shall gentle his condition. And gentlemen in England now a-bed shall think themselves accursed they were not here. And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks who fought with us upon Saint Crispin's Day."

...So live, that when thy summons comes to join
        The innumerable caravan, which moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.

I know that some here may see me a some "whack job" nutcase that rants about how much he hates Sony from time to time. ;) And I am, and I do. I am honest, and if you think I'm harsh, I promise you, I'm even harsher on myself. I do rail against Sony, but I'm also well aware of my own faults, and weaknessess.

I am indeed a "flawed" person, as are we all. There was only one perfect person born on Earth, and you all know damn well what we did to him.

I like to think of myself as a badass sometimes. But allow me to tell you something private, you're fellow DSA, and you deserve the truth, and to know a 'lil about me.

My Father was an alcoholic. And not a "nice' one. He wasn't a kind father. He was hateful, and at times, down right mean, especially to me.

I was a pussy. A panty waist. A girly boy. In all truth, I was just a skinny, shy boy that didn't know any better. I wasn't good at sports, and I think that kinda let him down. I was waaay more into drawing "Batman", than football.

But in counter to his abuse, was my Mom. She was always kind, and respected my "rebellious" side. Where he meant to hurt me, she was there to support me.
Kinda like a "Yin/Yang sort of thing. So because he made me doubt myself when I was young, I always went towards the more Macho styles of life, kinda like to "prove he was wrong".

I've been a punk rocker (with the diaper pin thru the cheek), a Combat soldier, a trucker...You name it. And now I'm studying to be a Chef, while working a retail job.

But all I really ever wanted to do, was just be an artist. And my Mom always supported that. Nothing more, nothing less.

She was, and always has been, my rock. My greatest friend, and my number one supporter. And to see her in such pain and total fear, totally broke my heart. She has always given so much, and asked for nothing in return. EVER.

She gave me my work ethic, that you do not fail, you just fuck up, and try again until you get it "right".

She gave me my code of honor, that no matter what, those that are stronger, MUST defend those that are weaker. It is a mandate.

That kindness, and virtue are NOT weaknessess, but rather strengths. Real men defend those that they love, and are NOT afraid to tell them that they do love them.

And to see this woman, that has given me such strength, and virtue, be soo scared and in such enormous pain, and when they loaded her up for emergency surgery, was still there for me.

Now that my friends, is one helluva woman.

So I ask, please pray for her. Nothing more, nothing less.
If not for me, please do it for her.

            Tie.

So sorry to hear this news, Deslock. I know that for women of advanced age, a hip fracture is very serious from infection risk through the challenge of recovery/rehab. Our prayers go to her for both physical strength and recovery as well as mental comfort after this trauma.
You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

She's in our thoughts Des. My mom has broken both hips. She recovered from the first the second not so much. It can be a speedy recovery.
