    Okay...You gonna buy them?....

    I think this guy says it just as good as I would. Pretty much hits the nail on the head:
    {Quote}

    There are a couple of people that have done some summeries as to why people hate the remastered versions. I'd like to go into a bit more detail.

    CG Inserts:
    Ok these really stood out like a sore thumb. Mixing new and old never really works smoothly. Most of the inserts were filler any ways that served no real purpose. I think one of the biggest eye sores was the added big dance number in Jabba's palace. That scene really had no reason for being there other then to say.. "Hey look what we can do with CG compared with the old muppets."

    Scene edit/insert: There were a few scenes that were added or edited that comes to mind. First the addition of the Jabba/Han Solo scene. This was a scene that was intended to be in the film but was cut, then got brought back for the remastered versions. I never really saw the point of haveing the scene brought back other then to have a CG'd Jabba thrown into the original movie..

    Next you have the scene I mentioned earlier with the dance number in Return of the Jedi. Good lord this was an eyesore. I really don't understand what point this served other then to piss fanboys off.

    Third the infamous "Who shot first sequence." For a scene that last about 5 seconds it really pissed me off. For those of you that never watched the originals not only did Han Solo shoot first; he was the only one to shoot. Lucus changed it because he didn't want Han Solo to look like a bad guy by shooting someone in cold blood. Well guess what... he was a bad guy. He was a smuggler with a bounty on his head. On top of that the scene make no sense. In the scene Greedo fires at Han's head. Why would he do that? Greedo needed Solo alive in order to collect the bounty for him. It's the same bounty that Boba Fett talks about in Empire when he tells Darth Vader that Solo is no good to him dead.

    Forth you have the scene with Jabba and Han solo. I feel I need to mention this mostly because it has to do with the "Who shot first sequence." When Han and Jabba are talking Jabba asks why Han fried Greedo. This line only makes sense in context to the original version because Greedo never fired. Jabba would probably have heard that Greedo fired on Han and never would have bothered asking that question. Sure this sounds like another minor gripe, but the more minor things that don't make sense the more problems arise.

    Finally adding Hyden in to the end of Jedi was a big slap in the face to all the fans. This really pissed me the hell off. Watch in this new remasterd version why don't they just edit out Alec Guinness from the end and put in Ewan McGregor instead of that ending sequance. While he is at it Lucas can just go ahead and edit out Yoda from it as well and put him self in place of Yoda. That way George can give all the fans a good an proper Tea Bagging.

    Growing up with Star Wars:

    I think when it comes down to it all the "pissed off fan-boys" are in fact pissed off because we grew up with the movies as they were originally made for almost 20 years. I grew up watching them on VHS many times and when I heard they would be re-released in theaters I couldn't wait. What I saw disappointed me. Once the prequels started coming out I realized that in reality the remastered movies were nothing more then a huge advertising campaign for the prequels.

    If after that people can't understand why we hate the re-released versions. It because all we really want is to be able to watch the original versions, of the original movies, without having to go a dust off a damn VHS player, all the while prayng that this won't be the last time we will watch it because this old hunk-o-junk will eat our tape.

    You know Lucus says it would be too expensive to release the original versions on Blue Ray because of all the touch up work needed. You know that is complete bull shit. We don't care about that crap George. In fact I think it would be safe for me to speak for all the other fan-boys out there when I say we would prefer to have to original versions, in their original state. And for the love of all that holy please stop trying change things. In fact I recommend that George should never have a hand in anything Star Wars. Just ride out into the sunset and let someone else at the reins of Star Wars because no one could possible screw up Star Wars more then George Lucus has in the past 13 years. {end quote}

    Gah.. Please:

    It looks like the whole series is getting shit on. I was thinking small that it was just a video game thing with TFU2 , And silly SW games coming out.

    Shame that Lucas likes to shit on his franchise. I didn't really like episode 1-3. Episodes 4-6 were pretty good, I mean Episode 4 started abit slow, But it picked up when they met Obi-Wan.

    I know all creators like to go all out, And try different things, But people need to criticize this dude :/. Give him some critique thats the only way people ever get good at things.

      Unfortunately I will probably be buying these. I have really wanted them on Blu-Ray and as a Star Wars fan it is a must. I agree that the re-mastered crap is absolutely terrible, with again that dance scene in RotJ making me want to vomit. But the worst was, as a Boba fanatic, having him flirt with that dancer was retarded. Hey George, for as much as you hate Boba Fett's popularity you aren't afraid to rape it for profit using your awful ideas. I also agree that Lucas should hand it off, look at the amazing things Bioware has done with Star Wars, or the authors who have made a great EU, Lucas would have just invented another crappy species to market to kids like the Gungans or Ewoks. But I will be getting the Blu-Rays day of release sorry to say :/

        The prequels...with the "new" CGI.
        I dislike CGI just because of the "fakeness" of it. The originals had "real" models, that looked "real".

        I liked Sabastian Shaw on ROTJ., not the new crap with Hayden on it. I liked Solo shooting first, and Boba NOT being a simple "clone", but a bad ass mysterious Bounty Hunter that no one knew anything about. That Vader and his motives were "unknown", and that he served the Emperor without question, because to him, it was just "the right" thing to do for him.

        The prequels explaining literally explaining everything to us:

        Thanks George....

        NOT !!

          I got a different view. I think the story lines of the prequels to be very good. I thought Lucas' whole story arc was a good one and I liked the explanations. I liked knowing what the clone wars were, how yoda ended in degobah and how obi wan ended up on tatooine. What I didn't like was any of the execution, dialogue, or short cuts used in choosing actors (Jake Lloyd) or accents (Lucas used to use linguists who "created" alien languages instead of throwing weak accents that we associate with cultural stereotypes in the States). If Lucas had written the outline and had someone else write the screenplay and someone else direct, it would have been much better. Empire was the best movie in terms of direction and character development due to this.

          Watching the orig three again, I disagree with some fanboy sentiment. I think the Jabba scene was appropriate since we never knew who Jabba was or why he was feared by Solo. The cartoony stuff--like when he squeals when his tail is stepped on--took away from what should have been a portrait of a brutal gangster. I agree that Han shot first. That change was stupid. And I agree that putting Hayden in made no sense since it was an old obi wan and yoda who were the force images, not the young ones. The other things? I don't think they added or took away any. I also think scenes with Biggs on Tatooine should have been included to fill out the status of the Alliance relative to the Empire. If you watch it again, Ep 4 is a bunch of scenes thrown together without much cohesion--some story elements needed filling out.

          I feel Lucas can do whatever he wants with his creations. However, as a creator, he should have prioritized making good movies, as Jackson did with LOTR, instead of the mishmash of scenes he did. He could have added emotional heft. Endor should have been Kashyyk like he originally planned. Romance should have been developed with depth--Disney Channel shows do a better job than Lucas did with his sand metaphors.

          So I don't have the anger of fanboys. I do think he had an opportunity to create a timeless epic and instead created a childrens fantasy that reads on no deeper level due to unnuanced writing and direction.
          You're the best! Around! Nothings gonna ever keep you down!

            @ Zabka.....totally agree with you. Although I really don't mind seeing Hayden at the end since we really did not have a connection with the original "Anakin Skywalker"....so for me, I don't mind it all.

            A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. ― Alexis de Tocqueville

              Plus he was redeemed, you would show the Force spirit of Anakin when he was known to the Light Side aka Hayden, older Anakin was and would be Vader. Made sense to me, but Im good either way

                I will buy the originals, not the prequels. I've learned to get over the BS changes. Some I actually prefer and other ones just don't bother me.

                I do have a bone of contention with him saying "the originals dont look that good" because the resolution of film is around 4 TIMES HD. It's Bullshit to say the originals wont look good on HD when they were originally shot in 4K resolution.

                  Lucas likes to say things and make excuses to do dumb things when we know he is full of shit. As you all know I love Boba and all Mandos, when I heard him in the commentary say when he did the SEs he was gonna add a scene of Boba escaping the Sarlacc but he "ran out of money" and also thought it would take away from the real purpose of the scene, Jabba's death. You are an idiot George, ran out of money? All he has is excuses, he DESPISES that anyone likes characters other than who the "story is all about" according to him, Anakin (and Luke) Skywalker. Any really cool characters you like, go back and look. Lucas takes them out like a punk. Maul, Boba, Jango, Grievous. The older I get the more he pisses me off. And the new President of LucasArts is going to kill SW videogames btw
