    Rage quitting.....

    Do you do it ?

Lord knows I have, but mostly on single player games. You know, those times when you've tried, and tried, and tried, and tried again, but you still just can't seem to get the upper hand and win the damn fight ?, and it makes you sooo ill that you throw the controller in rage, and just quit ?. You know, those games that you just can't seem to beat, no matter how hard you try.

    For myself personally....:

    Blazing Angels (PS3).

I'm on the last few levels, but as soon as I spawn in, I literally get shot down in seconds.

    Deadspace 1 (PS3).

I'm at the level where you have to run into the medical room, get the info you need, and get the holy Hell out of there before the "unkillable" boss in the room and his "friends" drill you.

    Assassin's creed 1(PS3).

I'm at the point where you have to fight those 13 knights in a row to beat the damn level. I just can't seem to do it.

    Battlestar Galactica (PS2).

The level where you have to take up THREE different gunner positions, and defend the Battlestar by switching positions and killing all the Cylons, before they nuke your ship. It just can't be done. This game did get harsh reviews on it's beyond total hardness, and now I know why. I DARE anyone to get this game and beat it. And if you do, show me Youtube proof of it, otherwise I won't believe it.

    Red Dead Redemption (PS3).

I've pretty much beaten this game, but I'm at the end of the game where you have to capture and break 3 horses. No matter what I do, they always seem to throw me off, which puts you right back to the begining of the mission. I honestly think that I've invented a few swear words because of this, to the point even my wife said "Maybe you should take a break from this, if it makes you that mad".

    Final Fantasy XIII (PS3).

I'm at a point where I'm fighting a Boss that once you get his HP's down to a certain level (His end), he unleashes an attack that can killl your entire party with one hit. I know now that I have to grind some more to beat his ass, but that attack is just cheap and uncalled for. It's not "fun" for me to fight thru a 20 minute battle, beat him down, only to get knocked out with one hit at the end.
Major controller thrower on that one....

As I said, there's rarely a time when I'll rage quit a online multi player game, unless I'm beyond sure of cheating, or as unbalanced as KZ3 can be at times, when you have eight guys on your opposing side, and two on yours. I really wish that they would fix that issue.

And most of all; Rainbox Six Las Vegas (PS3), the theatre level.

Yeah, I did finally beat this bastard, but probably only going thru it 85 times. This level damn near made me wonder about the existence of God, as it's soooo EVIL !

What games makes you want to scream and see red...?

I know I can't be alone in this.

      Oh lets see here. . . .

I've certainly raged and quit. But for the NES games on the list, it was back in the day when Limited Lives/Continues was the norm so at some point you were going to be forced to quit, whether you like it or not.

      that being said

Ninja Gaiden - God damn old hag in a pink robe throwing crosses into the air where I need to jump. Then again this goes for pretty much EVERY enemy in the game since the game's ratio of solid ground to bottomless pits is beyond punishing, and after the first stage pretty much every pit has a hag or a dude with an SMG or a trained psychotic falcon on the other side who will pit-knock your ass if you didn't pick up the right weapon half a stage earlier.

Castlevania - Alot of the same reasons as Ninja Gaiden though Belmonts move and whip like their gear is +5 Cement so at least the timing is easier. Plus the whip has some beastly range, hearts are common enough to use your secondary weapon for more than just clearing a specific enemy/terrain obstacle. Still. For as slow as they move even the lightest snuggle from a zombie will knock them back like 5 feet. RIGHT INTO A PIT

Double Dragon- WILL YOU STOP KICKING ME IN THE BALLS FOR TWO FUCKING SECONDS ABOBO YOU FUCKING PIE FACED ASSHAT!

Super Street Fighter II - M. Bison (or if you want to be nerdy about it. Vega / Dictator) destroyed me pretty regularly. This is before youtube (and I believe Gamefaqs) so there's no getting a strategy and copying it. Though I think I saw everyone's ending at least once.

Odin Sphere - I was doing fine at it until I got to Mercedes campaign. I'm stuck at a boss who is in three parts. Two of which can OHKO me quite easily. I honestly haven't gone back to the game since then. Though I have it as a downloadable game from PSN.

Dark Souls - This game isn't hard per-se. But it punishes poor tactical decisions and mistakes. That and going online has a 70% chance of you getting jumped by someone who has equipment and levels that far, far, far outstrip yours.

Motorstorm: Pacific Rift - Sometimes this game just feels like a crapshoot. I've had so many times where I suddenly got nudged by another car or hit a jump at the wrong angle and got raped by a palm tree. The courses are also sometimes poorly marked out meaning you have to try and fail alot before you realize the path the developers intended you to take. Lots of going over innocent berms only to find it's a dead drop cliff on the other side.

Muramasa: The Demon Blade - I don't mind that the game is difficult. What makes me rage is that bosses just have insane amounts of health and you have so little. I don't mind fights that are hard hard due to enemy attacks having wide sweeping attacks and screen sweeps, but I just get discouraged when you have to successfully hit the enemy 80 or 90 times when you'll die from 2-3 solid hits. Then again, I shouldn't be suprised. Muramasa and Odin Sphere are made by the same developer: Vanillaware.

Skyrim - I rage quit when I'm down to like 25% health, and I think "ok, yeah, this would be a good time to pause and heal. Then suddenly I get dragged into a sync-kill animation where a dragon eats me whole or a barbarian kicks me in the knee then lops off my head. I play with auto-saves turned off so it's quite frustrating to die suddenly and know I lost like 30 minutes of inventory management and methodical dungeon clearing.

There are a few games I have rage quit on, the ones that come to mind at this moment are GTA Vice City, God of War 1, Tony Hawk 1, 2 and 3 and a couple of Smackdown vs Raw games. I'm sure it happened back in the day but I am drawing a blank right now. As far as fighting games go I sometimes play better when I don't have someone watching me....that being said I was trying beat a boss fight on Def Jam Vendetta(great but underrated wrestling game) and had rage quit earlier. Once people left I set down to try again and I was in the process of winning the match and a friend knocked on the door and I hollered at him that I was in the zone and didn't want him coming in and shitting all over my zone so he had to wait outside till I finished my match. It took about another 10 minutes and I won then let him in and it was all good LOL. I know if I would have paused my game to get up and open the door it would ruined my momentum and I couldn't have that happen.

As far as online shooters the only game I have rage quit on is Gears 1 and 2. I never rage on the mic, it's more of an internal rage where upon rage quitting I find some substance to calm me down.....then I return to kill again shortly with a calm that I didn't have before.

Final Fantasy XIII : I agree about everything you've just said about it Deslock as this has happened to me as well. I'm near the end of the game and I just encountered the threat of some tower and he killed my leader in one hit within 2 minutes of the battle starting.I rage because the monsters prior to the boss don't provide adequate experience of "Crystarium" points to get stronger.

What makes me angry about this game in so many ways is the fact that you have no control what your two other teammates do, and the other one is if your leader dies it's game over. I do hope that FFXIII-2 isn't like that but i'm not even sure if I will end up trying that game.

Demon Souls: This game also made me angry at so many junctions and points of the game. Some enemies are made specifically for strategic purposes so rushing in headstrong will be pointless. So bravado tactics will not work as the enemy is built to be stronger than you. I wasn't crazy about being invaded either so I raged whenever someone tried to invade me since my whole purpose to play the game was not to do PVP. If I wanna PVP i'll play League of Legends lol. Awesome game, But hella hard.

Cave Story: Is actually an easy game in the beginning, But if you plan for the real ending then prepare for a hurdle especially when trying to reach the final boss and then to get to the real antagonist of the game.

In single player, I have stopped playing to take a break after trying 10+ times to clear a level or something like that.

I know this is more about single player games and which ones can be so challenging and frustrating. However, below is my take on rage quitting in online games.

In multiplayer I use to drop out once in a while when the sides were just so uneven. However, since bearing the DSA tags and agreeing to follow the CoC I have not rage quit. I don't care if everyone else on my side drops out and I am the last one remaining, I do not quit. I will never let anyone see the clan tags that I wear run from a challenge or leave a teammate to fend for themselves just because I am frustrated or tired of getting my butt kicked. I have dropped out because RL stuff or backed out during noncompetitive respawn games (those that play socom know what I mean) to join a clanmate etc. But I do my best to show everyone, that at DSA we support each other even when it is tough.

...So live, that when thy summons comes to join

To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave

Batman Arkham City: The only side mission in this awesome game that just makes me quit is the Advanced AR training that requires you to do ridiculous stunts that have no reward for you at the end...which doesn't provide incentive to complete them. Then there are the challenge maps. When you get a 125 hit combo on a wave of enemies just to have it go down to 0 will make you wanna just stop lol.

Final Fantasy XIII: I agree with Des and Mui. Some of the boss battles in this game encourages so much grinding that it takes the fun away from progressing at a consistent pace and is the reason why I don't have Platinum yet lol. In FFVII and up I didn't have this problem and hope they go back to their roots with Versus XIII (XIII-2 looks like it will be the same but with time travel).

Sonic 2: I had a love/hate relationship with this game when it first came out. In particular the final boss which meant you had 0 rings, Metal Sonic to deal with, and Dr. Robotnik in a giant mech that had a range advantage. Was so GLAD when I beat this game.

Armored Core MOA: The only game that made me hate recurring bosses lol. When you kill a boss and think they die, it clones itself and at the end shows up on STEROIDS...you just want to pull your hair out. At least there was this following cutscene that made it satisfying...even though the damn thing still tries to kill you when it dies lol:

@ND I can remember more than a few times of you and I finishing out a Socom game by ourselves vs 7 or 8 other guys.

In multiplayer the closest thing to rage quitting I do is getting pissed off, bitching how I suck, getting REAL quiet, and then signing off when the game is over. I don't quit anything mid game. I take my ass kickings like a man

In singleplayer, GT5 pisses me off because the collisions with other cars are not realistic. Very frustrating. Rubbing is racing dammit! Madden 12 was given away because of all the bs that game does. Random fumbles and penalties at the end of every game so the losing team can have a chance to win is just dumb. The losing team shouldn't get breaks because they are losing. IDK when this started in Madden but I've bought my last Madden game this year. Switching to Hockey. (Tony you should get a NHL game they're fun) Even the mention of the word Madden pisses me off I hate that game so much, and I've said it 4 EFFING TIMES NOW!!! ;)

I didn't mean mid game when I mentioned rage quitting, when a Gears game is that 1 sided it is over within about 3 or 4 minutes. We had a game like that during the last Gears practice where we got wiped out in a matter of 2 or 3 minutes.

Yeah, I don't quit mid game either. The only times I've done that was on Battlefield-modern combat, and Star Wars battlefront, when people were glitching/cheating/teamkilling. Both were Non-Dsa times.
Now I just quit and drop out at the end of the match, or drop out before the match starts if I see it's only myself against 8 others.

Medic, the trick to Ninja Gaiden is plain and simple timing. Once you memorize the timing, you'll tear thru this game with ease. I LOVE Ninja Gaiden; but it can be a beast until you figure out the timing to jump and attack.

What makes me angry about this game in so many ways is the fact that you have no control what your two other teammates do, and the other one is if your leader dies it's game over. I do hope that FFXIII-2 isn't like that but i'm not even sure if I will end up trying that game.
Amen brother. I HATE those two problems. FF7 in my opinion though crappy graphics wise, was a by far a more superior game. If I have a boy, I'm trying like Hell to get my wife to let me name him "Sephiroth". The boss I'm fighting now, that if you are lucky enough to survive it, it knocks everyone in your party to 1 hit point. You have to heal everyone back up, only to wait to get hit with it again. Rinse, wash, and repeat. Very, very cheap.

If it was a DSA server on Battlefront I would not just leave when I saw someone doing such things, the point of the DSA servers were to provide people with an environment free of all those things. If I wasn't able to get on the computer to boot/ban them from the server I would make their time there a living hell to the point where cheating or ruining others fun wasn't fun for them anymore. One time that I remember clearly was on Bespin Platforms and Rizzo and I were playing and kicking ass when some guy came in and started team killing. He ignored more then a few requests to play the right way and kept team killing anyone he came across. So Rizzo and I switched to rocket launchers and hunted him mercilessly for the next 15 minutes. We cornered him, spawn camped him and after a little while it wasn't fun for him anymore and he left. I had to do that more then once and the team killer always left when a more skilled teammate started killing them. I would often get people thanking me for getting rid of the losers.

i've rage quit in real life a couple times this week actually. the school semester started thiss past monday and i've been trying to get my books for class but i end up quitting because the line is about a 2 hour wait and end up saying fuck it after about 30 seconds upon looking at where the line ends, which is like where all the calculators are locked up. but in game terms i'd def say madden pisses me off beyond belief. i swear the controller for madden should just be two dice colored after your favorite team.
