I know the PC multiplayer is still up but now that it is backwards compatible, I wish they would bring the Xbox servers back up. This is one of those games I would also love to see remastered.

We've started playing on the PC version occasionally. Any slightly modern PC or laptop should be able to easily run it these days. Only issue is that there aren't any player dedicated servers yet, they (GOG) is supposedly working on updating the Server Manager software, but no word on any ETA. You can still host a server in game though.
There is the option of the modded communities that were largely used for online when the multiplayer was turned off, SWBFSpy and some other one). You have to replace 2, Shell.lvl and the main EXE (rename the old ones first so you can switch back and forth as needed). The EXE has some extra "fixes" and patches baked in. The Shell.lvl points the online matchmaking service to their master server instead of GOG/Steam's server. However, Since GOG/Steam fixed and turned back on the multiplayer, those other communities have dried up a bit."POWER!!! UNLIMITED POOWWWEEEER!!!!!!
