computers also do most of our banking, check out for shopping, trip planning, sensing of ice formation on plane wings, etc. etc. etc.

All of these things are vulnerable to hacking. The extremism of the above quote is exactly the type of sensationalism that takes away from the legitimacy of the issue. The sanctity of our voting process must be maintained and secure---but posing it in the idiotic way that they did in that quote sickens me with the pandering. This is similar to the fear mongering that Bush uses to justify the war. This is just fear mongering from the left.

Why the media, politicians, people are incapable of discussing important issues without sensationalizing the debate is beyond me. Intellectual laziness needs to be stamped out of our society as it just feeds the beast of Fox News and teasers like the above quote.

As the hanging chads show us--and as the Republicans' constant attempts to reduce voter turnout have shown, no election process is complete safe from cheating. Have recent votes been compromised? It wouldn't surprise me. But if it is through comptur or through stuffed ballots, or throwing away legit ballots, there are always problems with people who don't recognize the sanctity of the election process.
