    Modem/Router Issue

I have been trying to get NAT 2 for my PS3 and in order to do so I needed to forward certain ports on my router (which I did) but I still got NAT 3. On the brink of insanity I tried figuring out the problem and it turns out the modem I have hooked up to my router is actually a modem/router (in routing mode). I read that if this is the case then I need to put my modem/router in bridge mode so I went to my settings and put it into bridge mode BUT then I can't get connected to internet. I decided to call my ISP and apparantly they never heard of "bridging" and that my computer could be the cause of the problem (which I highly doubt). At this point I am stuck so I hope you guys can help me.

What you need to do is change the settings for your Router. You may need to put in your login and password and use the PPPoE setting for your router now. I'm guessing it's set to Obtain IP Automatically. If it is PPPoE try some of the other settings and see.

Try that and see. Also if you good your ISP and something like Double NAT or Bridge you should be able to find someone else that has done it before.

If your Modem is a router, why have the second router? Can you just use the one and open the ports on that? If not you can try to disable DHCP and routing on the modem/router to allow the router to handle that.

if it's one of the POS router/modem combos the ISP generally gives you it's always better to have your own. The one here at work couldn't handle the workload. When I had one at home it couldn't even handle a home network. Besides they are generally wired so any wireless stuff you either have to pay the ISP for the wireless package or buy your own router.

Thing is Ratix, I wasn't aware it was a modem/router (they just said it was a modem when I got it) and I only found this out trying to put it into bridge mode. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll try them out and see if it works. *crosses fingers*
