My plasma TV shit the bed last night. A nice loud pop from the left side while playing the new WaW maps w/ Limbo, and bam... picture is pure shit. FML. Hopefully I have a backup junk tv somewhere so i can still game. After doing some research I found out this is a common problem for this particular model. So now i go on a parts hunt for 2 boards inside. They're called an x-sus, and y-sus boards. Anyone know anything about these kind of repairs?

My father fixes plasma's and LCD sets as a hobby, and feels compelled to tell me all about it so I know what your referring to with the x and y boards.
The pop you heard is most likely the sound of a capacitor exploding. You need to take the back panel off and look over the board for any bulging or burnt capacitors. Like this,
You could try to locate replacement boards on E-bay or something. However your probably better replacing the ones on your board instead. Anything made 2002-2004 or so had a rash of bad capacitors. Everything from TV boards, PC mother boards and any other electronic device was plagued with these (Damn Chinese parts). Mostly they are the capacitors with an X on the top that you see go. So even if you get a replacement board, you may end up with the same problem down the road. Hence why I suggest just replacing the capacitors yourself.

Sometimes the EW are stored at the store's record you may want to check. This does suck. But really plasmas are not the idea screens for gaming since they can cause ghost on the screens and eventually can burn images on the screen. Personally I like LCD's for that.....but that's not to say that it doesn't look efin sweet on a plasma.
