Dammit Des, you're gonna have to start another thread with just the Theater pictures. There's like 5 pages of you talking and 2 pages of us whining for more. lolLeave a comment:

I guess I just need to do some more work and homework.
And practice.
But I will finish this.Leave a comment:

Don't have experience with paint.net, but that link you've posted is something I've done before. On PS, you just change the layer mode and mess with the opacity and other settings (as the link shows).
Does paint.net have layer options? If so, you should be able to do something similar. As long as what you're using has a black background or its a .png file, you can get the same effect. Do they provide any tutorials? Going by trial and error does take a lot of effort.Leave a comment:

Boss, have you ever done anything like this....? :
This is desperately what I'm trying to figure out with paint.net.
As you've all seen my earlier effects tryout piccy, something like this just HAS to have the proper effects, or it just looks like flat out shit.
I wish some other people had this program. It's not hard figuring all this photo crap out, but it is sadly time consuming figuring it all out by trial and error.

Damn.
Will winter ever GO AWAY??? !!!!
I need it to warm up so I can finish all the backdrops. I could just use paint.net to finish some things, but in my eyes that would be cheating.
I have pretty much all the figures I need, and I have most of the vehicles except the jets. That does hurt, but I think I can find ways around that for now. I just need it to warm up so I can paint all these backdrops outside. :(
I still have some older figures that need new o-rings, but in truth some of them are 20/30 yrs. old, so I can't really complain.
I did find this, and if they ever get their product done, it would be perfect for this project of ours, but it seems it might've been a hoax.
No communication with their sponsors in three months after reaching beyond their goal amount is NOT a good sign.:
https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/c...isplay-project
I sincerely hope all their sponsors aren't going to get burned.
Being able to create entire Death Star interiors would be beyond cool.
But for now guys, the only thing holding me back is the damn weather.
Winter, GO AWAY DAMN IT !!!!
Yentis, since you enjoy graffiti art, would you be interested in making out a few scale DSA designs on my buildings ?. I know fine art and commercial art, but graffiti art is so unlike my own personal style. That and as I said before, I need to find/make some scale posters, especially for the DSA barracks.
P.S. Yentis, I'm very proud of all your hard work, and time practicing your airbrush beginning skills. Keep at it man, you're doing well.Last edited by Deslock; 03-16-2014, 11:12 PM.Leave a comment:

I will Boss, but please give me a little more time to get the proper backdrops done. Even Daz told me that my buildings are amazing, but I want the proper backdrops done to show them off properly.
Being an artist, I am indeed a perfectionist. That's the whole reason why this project has taken so damn long. I will not half ass this.
I want this project to be my magnum opus for all my friends here in the DSA.
It started out as a joke, but I've taken it rather seriously, and we've spent some very serious money, time, and effort on this.
I know it's been almost a year, but it's really close to being done, so I don't want to rush it to completion.
All of my updates hasn't been just blowing smoke up everyone's collective asses to eat up more time to get this project done for over a year. It's real. It exists. You can all just ask Yentis. he has seen all my props and work over all this time.
And very soon, you all will too. :D
I don't even want to think about how much money we've put into this project.
But when you all see it, it will blow the internet away. And I'm NOT joking about that.
I am loathe to post any pre-production piccys, as I don't want to ruin the surprise for everyone seeing them before this is done.
You've all seen my first work in this thread, so you can imagine all the work, time, and money we've spent to make this project even better. :)
And I've done it all just for you.
Your patience will be truly rewarded,
Trust me.

Can you give us a teaser of the set? It sounds like things are shaping up well.Leave a comment:

Spent most of the night doing the highlighting on the buildings..."Phew". Much more work than I expected.
I still have to go to the hardware store and buy some pins for the back door of my fast attack vehicle that I cut out, so that way the door can be opened or closed. As amazingly detailed that these vehicles are, I'm truly surprised that they overlooked having opening doors and hatches. And I have to buy some camo green spray paint for some of the accessories.
Daz recently bought me three awesome scale sets of military accessories; but for some absolutely insane reason, they molded them in powder blue plastic.
Why would they do that ??!!!.
Thank you for the compliment as you're the only DSA member as of yet that have seen them. I can't wait for everyone here to see them in action, as I've put so much work and money into these sets. :DYeah man, your stuff is coming along well. Your buildings look amazing.
I went online to find anyone that makes scale posters, artwork, and such in 1/18 scale, and I haven't had much luck. Most of them are for car garage dioramas.
That and 1/18th scale sandbags.
So I guess I'll have to find a way to make my own besides using scale dollhouse stuff. That stuff is priced insanely high..
I recently found a website that carries a lot of the scale props and weapons I need, and I foresee me sending a lot of money their way.
With this series Daz and myself are making, I'm so beyond sure it will be a hit.
And I'm very, very proud that the DSA website will be it's home, with many thanks to RaTix. :DLeave a comment:

Yeah man your stuff is coming along well. Your buildings look amazing. I also look forward to seeing what you and Daz have in store for us man should be very funny.
Also really looking forward to start airbrushing, and if you need some stuff done once I have the skill; I will be more than willing to help ya knock it out.Last edited by Deslock; 03-02-2014, 02:02 AM.Leave a comment:

I found this link on the 1:18 scale forum. This guys work is amazing.
This will really help out, as most of the Power Team elite series re-use the same stock heads. This guys even has helmet sculpts from both factions in Starhawk for goodness sake. Check his fantastic work out here:
Tonight Daz bought me the PTE Seal team with the beach landing boat, and another accessory set with the .50 cal sniper rifle. :DLeave a comment:

I've got most of the buildings weathered, and I just need to finish highlighting them. They came in just plain barely painted plastic.
And I recently got more grass powder to finish everything up, and now Daz has her very own scale bakery.
I couldn't find any cheap bathroom equipment, so I've been sculpting them. I never thought I'd use my art skills to make scale toilets...Heh.
But it came out even better than I expected. All I have to do now to finish up the barracks set is to make a scale shower stall and sink.
That's one of the good things about playing Warhammer 40k. It makes you get good at scenery building. I really wish I had an art supply store closer. To get supplies I need, it's an 80 mile round trip. Oh well. It's worth it.
Yesterday Yentis and myself went out toy hunting, looking for pieces I need to finish up the DSA spaceport/landingpad. I didn't find the exact pieces I was looking for, but it did give me some good ideas.
And Yentis recently got some killer airbrush equipment. I'm really looking forward to help teach him how to use them all.
Now if it would only warm up. As I told Daz, this is the absolute last year I'm going to be in a house without a heating system. I'm so beyond being cold all the time.Last edited by Deslock; 03-01-2014, 01:20 PM.Leave a comment:

Paint.net is just so much easier to use. :D
Now if the damn weather would finally cooperate and just warm the "F" up so I can get these new backgrounds painted up !!!!
It's supposed to get up to 57 degrees here this Saturday. Last night I was laughing with Daz, that you can actually see your breath in our kitchen. *Brrrrr* I'm just sooooo tired of being F'n cold.
Daz found some great extra large foam boards for me to use as backdrops, but it's just been too damn cold to paint them.
If it does warm up, I'm going to try and post some test pics over this weekend.
Apat, Boss, Rage; I'd really like you guys to try out paint.net, and give me your opinions on it. I was surprised to find out paint.net was to be the official replacement for MS paint.Leave a comment:
